Well here it is folks! ...Issue 3 Part One is now online for your viewing pleasure. We have to admit that this issue is only half the content of all past issues, but it's most definitely one of our most entertaining. You'll also be stoked to know that we are already underway on Part Two of Issue Three. We aren't going anywhere! ...We hope that you enjoy and be sure to tell us what's up on our Facebook page!

Brent Jordan, a student and artist at NIC, dropped us an email with the following coverage of this years Art Event at NIC. Enjoy!
We know it's been a while since our last post, but we've been busy dealing with life in general and other endeavors, but please do not worry! We're committed and planning for a mini-attack... That's right, you heard correct. We have a mini surprise to pump out online, but it wont be ready for another few.
What does this mean? Well, nothing right now of course! ...You'll just have to keep checking back in for a more current update on the situation. Enjoy! ;)
-FOE Mag
So sorry for the massive delay in updates since the launch of our new site, but there's a lot to deal with on our end, we hope you all understand. Basically we've had to work our asses off to catch up, get ahead and to access our situation... What does this mean? Well...
This announcement is most definitely one that we're not particularly proud or stoked about, but... We, FOE Magazine, have officially closed up shop on the print end of FOE Mag. The support from all of you is and always has been "unbelievable" and more than we really anticipated, but the financial support just isn't up-to-par. With that said, it's obvious that we must shut down, while we're still a-head ....BUT!... Major BUT... we will be continuing to run foemag.com as a central hub for all of you Islanders to turn to when you're looking for local currents, local goods, and just an overall general steeze on all related industries. We will also be launching a contributors section for our new path of choice and we feel that this will be an extremely positive experience for all. If you wish to be added to our contributors section to help feed this section of the site, then hit us up at foe@foemag.com, in exchange we will link your name/company name from our site to yours.
However, we do plan on returning to the print end of FOE Mag one day, so don't just bail-out on us when the unexpected approaches. Just harness the change and see where it takes us as one unified-unit!
Thanks for reading and we hope all of you understand our decisions...

The second annual Wanna Giver BMX Jam in CR threw down in front of a hefty 100 or so spectators this past weekend. The classes consisted of beginner, intermediate, expert, and pro with the likes of pro BMXer's Andrew Lazaruk, Greg Flag, and Dillon Lloyd all riding for Macneil Bikes based out of Vancouver, BC. Positive vibes floated about the whole entire day as everyone seriously killed it with no serious injuries to make note of. The pro finals were definitely a highlight amongst theall viewers. Dillon Lloyd trucking down alcatraz and hop three whips into 3ft. wedges. Andrew pulled a first ever gap at the CR park, boosting from the 5ft. mini up on to the overt vert ledge, 15ft. feet up and 5. out. Greg Flag also dialed in a double hand plant to fakie in he 12ft. over vert. first try.

On Sunday morning we packed our bags, tied our shoes, and slammed a bunch of coffee before ripping up to Mount Washington to scope out a demo at the 2nd annual See Jane Jump Women's MTB festival produced and organized by pro MTB athlete, Darcy Turenne. Here's a few compiled images from the day. Enjoy.
Finally, right? We know, it's been too long, but we're swamped over here. Really! ...That's our excuse at least ...so digest slowly.
Welcome to our new site and overall image. You'll most definitely want to take your time to view every page that this bad boy has to offer; as it is full of info, feeds, downloads, and contests. We went with a fairly basic structure that allowed us to keep the flow from page to page. Our "stuff" page is another way that we can give back to all of you with freebie-savers, downloads and videos. We've also set up an "Art Blog" for all art enthusiasts out there looking to show off their creatives.
Our homepage is the place you'll want to scope out frequently, as we have set aside 4 corners of goodness. There's the "FOE Mag feed" which will consists of FOE Mag news and other endeavors, "your island words" is for all of you out there. If you're putting on or know of any events, shows, or whatever then write in to sub@foemag.com and we'll post your words right away.
"Featured grom" is dedicated to all of the VI shredders out there, whether it be skate, snow, surf, bike...etc.
...And last but not least, "spoiled goods" strikes again, but online. We'll be doing monthly posts on local companies/goods to better inform on the support of our own.
Enjoy and hit us up with whatever the heck you want.

What do you enjoy besides bikes? I do a lot of photography/filmmaking for fun, as well as DJing
What type of riding do you usually do? Downhill
Where do you ride these days? Weather/time permitting Mt. Prevost is the place to be, but I usually end up at the semi-secret trails that are a short drive from Vic city.
I understand you're making another edit with Scott Secco - what's going on there and when can we expect a release? We're currently still in the planning/building stage, but we're going to get started on shooting soon. This time We've got Esrah Boulton on board as well to help with building and to take care of getting some banger photos. I'm really stoked to get started with the shooting as both those guys are super stoked 24/7, as well as super talented. The edit should be released into the wild sometime before February... Stay tuned!
Is anyone helping you out product/flow wise right now:? Oak Bay Bikes always hooks me up. All the guys and gals there are super rad - they're without doubt the best shop on the island!
Any thanks?
Terryl Bertagnolli of CHOS Consulting has been super supportive of my riding over the years and has put a ton of hard work into getting a great riding scene going in my hometown of Quadra Island. And of course my parents!
BEINGS - acrylic/graphite/wire Art By JOSE BRAND & TAYLOR LEIGH
This will be Jose and Taylor's first solo art show. As a duo that tempts imagination and surrealism, their work will make your brain run in circles, only to find out that it's a, "Choose Your Own Adventure" type of art piece.
After many emails back and forth the name of show was produced purely on the fact that all of their work is based on original "beings" created straight from the mind.
The exhibit is on June 2nd (Sat) from 5-11pm @ Cinderbloc Studio on 602 Studio D Esquimalt Rd.

SHAYD: So Ernest, your album is soon to be released, Within and Without… This album was Co-Produced with Ben Allen, who has also worked with Animal Collective and Deerhunter… How did this come about?
WO: Ben is from Georgia, and has a studio in Atlanta. We first started talking a while back when my music was just beginning to gain exposure, I think he was just excited to see someone coming from a small town in Georgia liking this sort of music, and at the time i didn’t have a lot of new material ready… This past fall, I was writing my new material and realized I was going to need some help mixing and finishing everything. He luckily had a couple of weeks off and things fell into place for him to help produce the album.
SHAYD: When was the point that you expanded to become a full piece band?
WO: When I first started out, I was doing a lot of shows by myself and I wasn’t a very experienced performer, It’s much more fun playing with other people, I enjoy it, and the audience feeds off it too. My stuff is a little more lo-fi and doesn’t have the power behind it to play by myself.
SHAYD: How did your wife become involved in the band?
WO: She’s always been involved full-time with the band, acting as a tour manager, she grew up playing piano and she’s pretty good. The music was becoming more complex and we definitely needed the extra help, so it was a perfect fit. She didn’t really ease into the band… her first live show was playing a similar festival to Sasquatch, with about the same amount of people, that’s not the easiest transition. She does great
SHAYD: Your song ” Feel It All Around ” was the theme song for Portlandia, how did that opportunity come along?
WO: Just super lucky really, Fred Armisen was a fan. He had heard some of my songs, so I sent him a record and a little while longer he wanted a show together. It’s been really amazing, I’ve had so many people come to shows solely from hearing that song, so it’s been great.
SHAYD: It says on your website that shipping is unavailable during tours, is that because you do the merchandise yourself?
WO: We pretty much do most everything ourselves, We signed with SubPop for this record, who have started to take over some of that burden. But for the past year, it’s been Blair and I doing everything. I do most of the production and she’s been taking care of the management. It wasn’t leaving much time for music… that’s slowly changing as we are growing.
SHAYD: When is the release date for Within and Without?
WO: July 12th
